Manage your licence key, view feature entitlements, and upgrade plans.
Overview
Xcellerate RMM uses a per-endpoint licensing model. The open-core edition is free and includes the essential RMM features. Premium modules (IPAM+, advanced reporting, priority support) are unlocked by purchasing a subscription from RMM Labs.
The Licensing & subscriptions page shows your current licence status, endpoint count, feature entitlements, and subscription renewal date. You can also enter a new licence key or upgrade your plan from this page.
Key concepts
- Licence key — a unique string that activates your subscription. Entered once during setup and validated against the RMM Labs licence server periodically.
- Endpoint count — the number of active (non-archived) endpoints under management. This determines your billing tier.
- Plan tier — the subscription level (Community, Professional, Enterprise). Each tier unlocks additional modules and increases the endpoint limit.
- Feature entitlement — a specific module or capability included in your plan (e.g. IPAM+, advanced reporting, SSO, priority support).
- Grace period — if your subscription expires, Xcellerate continues to function in read-only mode for 14 days, giving you time to renew without losing data.
Step-by-step walkthrough
View your current licence
Go to Administration → Licensing. The overview shows your plan tier, licence key (masked), endpoint usage vs. limit, feature entitlements, and expiry date.
Enter a licence key
Click Enter licence key. Paste the key you received from RMM Labs and click Activate. The server validates the key online and updates your entitlements immediately.
Check endpoint usage
The Endpoint usage section shows how many of your licensed endpoints are in use. If you are approaching the limit, consider upgrading or archiving endpoints you no longer manage.
Upgrade your plan
Click Upgrade plan to open the RMM Labs subscription portal. Choose a new tier, enter payment details, and receive an updated licence key by email. Enter it on the Licensing page to activate.
Manage billing
Click Manage subscription to access the billing portal where you can update payment methods, download invoices, and change billing contacts.
Tips & best practices
- Archive endpoints you no longer manage to free up licensed slots — archived endpoints are excluded from the count.
- Set a calendar reminder 30 days before your subscription renewal to avoid unexpected read-only mode.
- Start with the Community (free) tier to evaluate the platform, then upgrade to Professional when you need premium modules.
- If you manage endpoints for multiple clients, review your endpoint count monthly — rapid onboarding can push you past the limit.
- Keep a copy of your licence key in a secure password manager — you'll need it if you reinstall the server.
